Virtualisation Engineer
Location: Bordon, Hampshire (with regular travel to Client sites)
Reports to: Parico Technical Team Lead
Day Rate: Upto £600 per day, outside of IR35, 12 month contract
Security Clearance: Active SC or higher required for this role

The Role:
Parico is seeking a talented a Virtualisation Engineer who is smart, curious and prospers against the challenge of working closely with a small business to solve complex and challenging problems across the UK defence landscape. You’ll have the freedoms to be truly innovative to roll up your sleeves, get stuck into the detail of systems, create demos and proof-of-concepts, and generally do what it takes to achieve incredible technical solutions to our customer’s complex problems.
Responsibilities include:
- Demonstrable expertise in implementing and contributing to technical designs for virtualisation components:
- VMware ESXi
- Distributed Virtual Switches
- Distributed Resource Scheduler
- Distributed Power Management
- VMware vSAN
- All Flash storage configurations (RAID 1, 5 and 6)
- VMware vCenter
- High Availability
- Clustering
- Cross-site failure and resiliency
- VMware NSX-T
- Microsegmentation Firewalling
- Deployment and configuration of Tier 0 and Tier 1 NSX Components
- VMware ESXi
Our Ideal Candidate
- Significant experience in designing Public Cloud Infrastructure projects using VMWare Cloud on AWS.
- Strong vSphere and Software Defined Datacentre (SDDC) deployment knowledge.
- Significant design, implementation and troubleshooting experience implementing networking solutions with VMWare NSX-T.
- Previous design experience with VMware Validated Designs (VVDs)
- Virtualisation and network abstraction technologies such as VMware Horizon (VDI) and multi-tenancy constructs.
- A comprehensive and detailed understanding of modern private cloud datacentre architectures, including detailed and extensive experience in configuring and deploying networks across a wide range of scenarios.
- Experience working with Dev-ops tools including;
- Jira
- Confluence
- BitBucket
- Have demonstrable sector knowledge or experience within UK Defence (Army, Air force or Royal Navy).
- Be bold and innovative in the approach to winning new business, growing existing business and fostering new relationships.
- Hold strong leadership skills, to be able to lead and set direction for others and motivate a team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to hold a minimum of UK Security Clearance (SC).
- Hold a UK Driving Licence and have a willingness to travel to client sites.
Essential Qualifications
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or similar.
- AWS Solution Architect or similar.
